Earlier this term Julie worked with our school. A regional school in NSW already along the path of change. Our data well let’s say could and has been better. The leadership team identified improving vocabulary and background knowledge would cause a great shift. Julie’s presentation was taken onboard by 100% of staff. Yes, 100%. Staff are now in their 6th week of explicit vocabulary instruction in every classroom every day. This has been achieved through the expertise, support and motivation given to my team by Julie, to explicitly teach Tier 2 and for some Tier 3 words found in rich texts. We have focused on picture books whilst we have our training wheels on. Our impact - well data will tell but for now I am running proudly with: 100 % buy-in 100% of classes explicitly taught vocabulary everyday Happy leader.
